Monday training light squat, heavy deadlift and bench press......

Although I have still reaction in my right leg. The "light" squats 3x5 145kg went pretty well. The hardest part at this moment is coming out of the hole. The first 30cm coming up are the hardest at the moment. At this moment the most pressure is at the muscle what is recovering. Normally at this point I have a boost (tension / power / explosiveness). After the squats I did my deadlifts and this went very well. Although I have to pull hard, I was able to go through. My new belt fits great. It is still stiff and is not yet in the maximum hole of the belt, so I will give me more advantage the coming time. Bench press is stable and going very well at this moment. My goal to press 205kg at the Dutch Powerlifting Masters is within range :-) Wednesday recovery training and Friday my first squat session in (loose) squat. I'm curious how this will go. Shall this the confidence I need to make the next step? ;-)

Recovery training today......

Today training was recovery... and I need it :-) So I'm ready for Friday. My first suit training, since a while. I'm looking forward to this training. 

Bad squats (stopped) bench press with RAM and sumo deadlift with loose suit

Today I hoped to squat with my suit and the opposite happened :( During the RAW squat I felt my leg injure in my 1st set with 190kg. In the first set I did 3 reps. In my 2nd set I made an single and stopped with the squats. This is a big disappointment and most important I stopped on time. Coming week (Monday and Wednesday) squats with lower weights and less reps, so I have to opportunity to get back my feeling back with squats. At this stage the movement cost my too much. So I have to adapt to get back on track and focus on my goals for the upcoming Nationals, followed by the Europeans. After the squats I did my bench press and this went very well. First I did 4x5 120kg RAW, followed by 4x135kg, 4x145kg, 4x155kg and 4x160kg with the Super RAM. Although I felt my leg, I'm still able to sumo deadlift. I know, because of my leg, the technique of the movement is not that beautiful :-) Most important for me is that I'm able to pull 3x3 230kg wearing a very loose suit. You can see how loose my suit is, after I finished my 2nd set with 230kg and I put down my straps. Wish you all a great weekend! Keep on lifting....

Only bench press today ......

Because I had this morning a therapy session for my leg, I decided to do my squat- and deadlifttraining tomorrow. The benefit of this decission make today simple. I had to do only bench press. This give me the opportunity to go for it. And it help. The sets with 122,5kg went easy and give me a lot confident for my first shirt training for coming Friday. The otherside of the decission, is that I have to do only (light) squats and deadlift tomorrow. Because I will do that tomorrow my leg have one day extra rest :-) See how it will go tomorrow :-)

Ligth squats and conventional deadlifts...

Today I had to do light squats to see how my leg respond. The muscle feelt stiff during the warmup sets. I recorded the 5 sets with 130kg and you can see the differences set by set. This is good for my confident. Coming weeks I will hold the weights low with the squats..... But I know myself :-) Conventional deadlifts were hard today. I was aiming for a triple with 225kg and in the 1st rep I let the pressure go when I lock the rep out. After that I did 2 sets with 3 reps with 220kg. And 220kg is 10kg more than last week. Conclusion: my strength in deadlift is coming back :-) Tomorrow recover training. Friday bench press in shirt and sumo deadlifts with my tight suit :-) Time to skipe squats at meets and only push / pulls?......

Only bench press (with RAM) and sumo deadlifts. Squats tomorrow...

Just before my training I had my physiotherapy treatment. Although my leg felt better. My physiotherapist to give my leg some rest after the treatment. Therefore I didn't squat and will do (light) squats tomorrow. Because I skipped my squats, I had plenty of time to bench press and to do sumo deadlifts. Quote of number 14 "So every disadvantage has its advantage" :-) The strength with my bench press is becoming better. Today I did my warm-up and went up to 5x120, 3x130 and 2x140 raw. After that I pressed with super RAM 2x155kg, 2x165kg, 2x175kg (new personal best), 2x180kg (new personal best) and finished with 8x150kg. Because of the treatment I had a slight reaction in my leg during my sumo deadlift. Therefore I decided to do double instead of triples. Also with the movement going up, I hold a little bit back. Highest double was 2x237,5kg. Not that I deadlifted much weight, but it give my confident for next week when I will deadlift with full suit instead of today weith half suit. The planning was to press with shirt and deadlift, but trainingspartner wasn't able to come and help me out. This can happen, so I adapt and improvise my training. Now I look even more forward to next Friday to train with my trainingspartner. Overall I'm pleased that my bench press and deadlift is going better (become stronger) step by step.

Light squats ......

As planned I squatted to do. The warm-up went stiff. 2x8 20kg, 8x60kg and 8x90kg. After that I decided to do 5x5 110kg. Set by set it went and felt better. You can see the difference of the set in the video. To finalized the squat session I did 3x8 60kg with more speed. More speed in the movement will helps me to get my confident back in the squats.

Monday training light squat, deadlift and bench press......

Due some reaction in my leg after the light squats from Saturday, I took some extra rest yesterday. Today I was focused to make more speed during the squats, instead holding myself too much back during the movement. I did 5x5 100kg and I find it ok how it went. See what tomorrow will bring as reaction. Because my body felt a little bite tried from my Friday session bench press and sumo deadlifts, I did only 3x3 200kg conventional deadlifts. Coming Friday I want to test myself how sumo deadlifts will go with full equipment. Will I be able to make a double with 260kg? With bench press I decided to add 2,5kg instead of 5kg comparing last week Monday bench press. With the heaviest sets I ended with 3x5 125kg. Bench press is going forward. Coming Friday I aiming to bench a double with 200kg in shirt. Can I hit it?

Recovery training ..... ready for Friday bench?

Recovery training today. With the squats I repeated the training of Monday. 5x5 100kg went better than Monday. During the movement I was able to make more speed and this is small breakthrough in my recovery. Because I can make more speed, this gives me confidence that I'm finally on the right track back. Like Monday I did deadlifts with low weight. This to give my body more rest and make myself hungry for Friday deadlifts. The goal is to make a step forwards. Two years I was able to deadlift at least (easy) 285kg. This weight I needed at least to make a total of 800kg at the Master Nationals in May. Shouldergrip bench press went good and gives me a lot of confident for the shirt session of Friday. At the bench press Nationals I pressed 195kg, so a double with 195kg will great to achieve.

The squats went easier than Wednesday ;-) I squatted 5x5 100kg again. Although it went better, the Nationals are comng closer. During the warm-up with bench press I felt a little bite tried in my chest. The focus to bench press in my shirt was ok and therefore I did what I want. It went heavier than expected/hoped, but most important I manage to press it. Thanks to Peter for helping me out with my shirt :-) The serie I made in shirt was 2x160kg, 2x180kg, 2x190kg, 2x195kg, 2x200kg, 2x205kg and 2x190kg. After my focus was gone and after a few sets with deadlift, I decided to stop my training. Coming week I will have a rest week. After I hope I can get the focus I needed to get ready for the Nationals. Happy Easter everybode!

First training after 1 week rest :-)

Last week I had one week of. So I didn't train the whole week. In the beginning of the week my motivation getting worse and worse. And finally at the end of my holiday I made the switch in my head and told to myself that I will do squats and bench press on Sunday instead of Monday. This gives my and my physiotherapist information how my leg is recovered after one week of rest. I squatted the same as the previous training, so I did 5x5 100kg. This went better then the 3 previous squat training of last week. Most important I felt now much better where the problem in my leg is. So I marked the spot on my leg and I hope this will give my physiotherapist the information to make the progress I need for the coming weeks. Otherwise it will be hard to compete at the Dutch Masters Nationals at 18th May. Also I benched today. I went up to make final sets with 5x120kg (3 sets). Tomorrow first an appointment with my physiotherapist and after that I will do some deadlift and will make the plan for the coming weeks.

Deadlift after therapy session...

This morning I had therapy session for my leg. I must say I'm pleased how it went. My therapist did some test, so I have to put "maximum" power into my leg during the exercise. My leg felt better and better during the exercise. Conclusion of this session is that I can increase the weights with squats the coming session and see what the reaction will be. Friday after my trainingsession I will have my next session with my therapist. Today I had to plan to train only deadlift. After my normal warm-up I squatted 5x8 20kg, just for the feeling. Then I started the deadlift. Although it felt heavy and I don't had the leg drive (power) like I had a few weeks ago, I'm satisfied. I went up to 1x235kg and after that I did 6 sets with lower weights. The last 3 sets was more to train my speed.
