Confident in the squats are growing a little bit ......

Although I felt my leg during the squat sets more than I hope/expected, my confidence is growing. I have the courage to squat with more speed. When I bend my knees with more speed, it feels better. The reaction after the session was less. So tomorrow a rest day, so I can do a squat test on Friday. To protect my leg, I will put on my suit. See what I will be able to. After squats I did deadlift standing on blocks with stop. During the deadlift I feel that I have more power in my left leg. The coming trainings I have to focus to train (put pressure/power) onto my right leg. Shoulder grip bench press went very well. I don't yet if I will train coming Friday with suit or RAM. I will do some sumo deadlifts with suit.

Squats, bench press and deadlift..... squat is going better

Yes, I'm pleased that I was able to squat 3x3 190kg (half suit, belt and loose wraps). Special for Sandra the following sentence. Two flies in one stroke.What I mean with this. I was able squat more weights and I was able to squat with a half suit. Squatting with half suit went great. In the past years I wasn't able to do this. How come???? Sandra do you know the answer? My leg holding the pressure during the squat. My suit was protecting my leg very well. This gives me the confidence to squat at least 220kg next week ;-) Bench press was tough and still I was manage to press sets with 190kg in shirt. Sumo deadlifting isn't going how I want. The sets after my singles went ok. After my training I had very intensive session with my therapist. Finally I have the feeling I'm on my way back with the squat. Want will be the reaction tomorrow.

Monday training squat, deadlift and bench press......

This training I squatted again with half suit. Now my loose suit and this gives just enough support around my leg. The support gave me to squat faster and faster during the sets with 160kg. I aiming to squat sets and reps with 220kg coming Friday and maybe 1 single. Deadlift was hard today. The focus wasn't ok and there for I decided to do 5x3 150kg. My shoulders and chest feelt stiff of the trainings from last week. Bench presss went still ok. Today's sets were the same as last week Monday. Recovery training on Wednesday and the focus on the Friday training. After this training I will be able to make up my mind and decide if I can lift at the Master Powerlifting Nationals.

Wednesday training... ready for Friday?

Ligth squats (5x3 130kg). During the squats it was easier for me to make my depth. The "pain" was also less. Friday I'm hoping to make sets with 220kg (half suit). Because I deadlifted not like planned Monday, I decided to do more weights today. With deadlift standing on blocks I went up to 3x210kg, instead 3x170kg. Most important is that I still put (have) more power in my left leg. Therefore my maximum deadlift isn't that good at this moment. Shoulder grip bench press went ok and I did the same as last week.

Confidence is 80% now. More than last week and I need 100% next week for the Nationals

The planning of today was to squat 3x220kg. It was easy to come up and the strugle is at the point where I have to make the depth. At that point I feel the muscle(pain) and therefore I don't dare to force it and make the right depth :-( Most important is I squatted 30kg more than last week. After the set with 220kg I did 3x200kg again. This set went well (unfortunately I didn't record this set) and therefore I decided to make a single in suit with 230kg. Still in the hook the muscle of my right leg blocked (in my head). I made progress and I still don't have the confident I need for next week Sunday for the Nationals. More than a week to build on that. Although my chest is still tried I went up to make a single with 190kg and 200kg (both with the bar on the chest), so bench press is going stronger each week. Sumo deadlift in half suit went ok and with the single I feel that my straps are to tight. Because of that I did also one single in my loose suit. Coming days (week) low weight and reps training to make the best at the Nationals next week. At this point it will be hard to lift even 700kg total :-( and this will be the first to get the 800kg total again in the near future.

Because of my slow recovery, sometimes I think "maybe it is wise to stop powerlifting". The last weeks that thought past my mind more often. Yesterday I watched the Europeans were Carl Yngvar Christeensen lifted 1200kg total!!! Awesome to watch http://youtu.be/YKpLjSx2yHw Compare the strugle I made at this moment and watching that incredible lifting. With my current shape I hope to lift 700kg total coming Sunday. During the day I thought "yes maybe this is the moment to stop". With all the things I do, it hard to plan my trainingdays. Also my recovery is not that fast I want. So I have enough excuses to do it. Why not? That felt I today with my training. Right from the start I was more focused then the last weeks of training. I say to myself "No Pain No Gain". Because I wasn't pleased how my squat went on Friday. The test didn't bring what I expected and hoped. Therefore I want to do it again. With some other weights. Right from the start my Ointment was good and I went totally for the movement. With the agreement I made with myself: Test today and when it is too much and my injure will become worse, than it is as it is. It went very good. The weights are still to less and I squatted 3x3 190kg and made a single with 220kg. I can open with approx 240kg Sunday. After that I did convenfional deadlift 3x3 180kg followed by sumo deadlifts. Also 3x3 180kg and a single with 200kg. With the sumo deadlifts I use a very old suit. Although the suit is a little bit to big/losse, it felt great. Also I did benchpress 3x3 120kg and a single with 130kg. Wednesday recovery training, Friday very light training and physiotherapist treatment. What will I lifted Sunday? 5th training Europeans, recovery work.....

Recovery training went ok. The biggest problem were the squats. The muscles arount my hip and upper thigh are stiff. This makes my low weights squat (5x3 130kg) hard. I felt much heavier than the squats from Monday and Friday. Deadlift standing on blocks felt good. Deadlifting without belt is going better, so my strength is gaining. Shoulder grip bench press felt also good. Friday suit and shirt training and my big friend Peter is coming to help me out (give me a kick under my ass). It is time to put on more weights on the bar with the squats.

6th training Europeans, easy 3x250kg squats :-), video added....

Peter was helping me out today and his support helped me to push myself further with the squats. After I squatted 3x220kg (half suit), I loaded the bar with 250kg. With full gear I squatted finally easy 3 reps with it. Then I put 3x260kg on the bar and in the first rep I made a technical failure and I felt some krrrrrrr in my hip/upper leg. Although with a bad technique I was able to push myself through it and made 3 reps. Because of the krrrrrrr and I want to know if my muscle was broken again, I lower the bar to 240kg. Gladly the krrrrr was higher in my leg/hip, so I hope that some connective tissue came loose. Although I felt some reaction I was able to squat 3 reps with it easly. I'm curious what the reaction will be tomorrow. Bench press went tougher that I expected and I did 3x180, 3x185 and 3x190. With the sumo deadlift I felt some "pain" and therefore in the first set I didn't push myself to get into the technique. Peter confronted me and my 2nd and 3rd set went much better. Next week less weight on Friday (loose suit with squat and deadlift). 6th June I aiming to squat 2x280kg, bench 200kg and pull 2x240kg again.

7th training Europeans, Monday training, deadlift is going very well.....

On Monday I do now "light" squats, half suit. Because my thigh was irritated last Friday, squatting was a lot more difficult than expected. Therefore I did the same pounds as last Monday. Each set went better. Hope you can see it in the video. Wednesday again light squats. So I can wear my loose suit and wraps on Friday, to make my sets again. Conventional deadlifting is really going better. It is finally easy to lift without a belt again. The win-win is that I train my back, this will help me to carry the heavier weights with squat again. Alfter the 3 sets without belt I was a little bite overconfident and I had to work harder than I expected with 3x220kg (with belt). Next week 200kg without belt? With bench press I did the same sets, reps and weight as last week. Coming Friday I want to do more weight and reps with RAW bench. I aiming for 3x3 135 and a single with 145, followed with some sets with the RAM.

8th training Europeans, recovery......

Recovery training. Low weights squats. Leg felt stiff and painful, although that I was able to make the right depth. Friday half suit and 1 single with full (loose) suit. Deadlift, standing on blocks went pretty well. The last set was the best one. With deadlift I feel that I'm able to put more power on my left leg. Strength of my right leg is improving. Shoulder grip bench press went also ok.

9th training Europeans "light" heavy training....

Hahaha Today my "light" heavy training. What I mean with this is that I did my heaviest workout of this week and overall it is a light week compare last week and coming week. Clear? Although it was a "light" trainingsession, I had to work hard. And it felt great. Squatting with my big/loose suit gave my the confident I need for next week Friday. I squatted 3x3 230kg (straps down) and 1x250kg full gear. Raw bench press was hard. I was able to make one set of 3 reps with 135kg. After the sets I put on my RAM and those set felt great. I finished with 2x170kg. Hope this will give the push I need next week when I will train in shirt again. Sumo deadlifting went great. Although I had to work hard during the sets (3x3 200kg straps down) I felt that I could pull again and put almost the same power into my right leg :-). Most important for my sumo deadlift it that I can pull till the end of the movement. You can see that with the single I pulled with 230kg (also with big/loose suit). At this moment I believe I will squat 300kg again at the Europeans, bench press 200kg plus and deadlift over 260kg. See what the coming trainingsweek will bring. Step by step my leg injure is becoming better. I can hold the pain during the squats and deadlift.
