Stopped deadlifting ....

Although I squatted 220kg, with  wraps, last Friday. In that set I injured myfibula (bone) and the muscles around it. I don't know what happened. After the training the muscles start giving reaction. I thought wiht rest it would be recovered enough to do my Monday training. I skipped the front squats and during the deadlift it was hard to put on my leg (and muscles) Also the technique wasn't the way I wanted to go and therefore I decided to stop. See how it will recover the coming days and if I will be able to squat on Friday. Stay tuned :-)

Bench press went great. I pressed 1x147,5kg followed with 5x3 130kg. At this moment in week 2 is that a great performance. :-)

Squats within the possibilities of my calve injure

The planning was 5x5 187,5kg raw squat today. Because my injure of my calve muscle (the sinew/tendon of the calve at the bottom of my knee) I was pleased that I squatted 5x5 150kg. Squats were above parallel otherwise the pain was too much, when I made the right depth (empty bar was too painfull already). At the stage I think better to squats above parallel instead of no squats at all. Hopefully the reaction of the calve muscle will be ok tomorrow, so I will be able to deadlift on Monday night.

lack of motivation with squat & deadlift, new PR in sets with bench press!

Due lack of motivation for squats & deadlift I skipped day 1 of week 2. My battery is not charging. Bench is going wel, so I have the will to do my bench press training today. I made a touch & go attempt with 150kg (this went easier as a few weeks ago) Also with my sets it went ok. I did 4x3 132,5kg (like a few weeks ago). Instead I finished the last set with 2 reps, I made 4 reps. So this is a new PR on this stage. Thanks for online coaching by Sandra :-)

What is wisdom? Half squats or no squats, due to an injury?

Last Monday I skipped my training, because lack of motivation. Motivation is still too long, but what the hack. Squatting (half reps) on Christmas is that better than doing nothing? Due the warming-up I made a mistake to squatting on depth, so I felt the pain of my injure rightaway :-( Most important of that signal was: I know on what depth the pain will started. Therefore I decided to make half squats, instead of no squats. The question is: is that wisdom? 5x5 175kg and some significant reaction in my leg / knee at this moment. Tomorrow it will be feeling better.

Day 1 on Sunday, starting to deadlift again

Due lack of motivation last Monday and the week before I had troubles due my calf/knee injure I skipped deadlift. Yesterday I was invited by Pardeep to have diner. Before diner we train together at Atlas Nijmegen. My motivation is not great yet and it was enough to do a deadlift session. Normally I do 5 reps and with the calve/knee injure I did 3 reps after the 130kg. So I did 3x160, 3x190, 3x220, 3x170, 3x210, 3x230, 3x200 and 3x170kg. After I was ready for diner ;-)

Uitnodiging voor het Nederlands Kampioenschap Sub &  Junioren RAW  Powerlifting op 18 April 2015

Het Nederlands kampioenschap Sub & Junioren  Powerlifting zal  plaats vinden op zaterdag 18 april2015 bij KSV Spartacus  Kerklaan 56 te Noord Scharwoude. Deze wedstrijd wordt gehouden onder auspiciën  van de  KNKF– Sectie Powerliften.

Atleten die lid zijn van een vereniging die is aangesloten bij de KNKF kunnen zich uitsluitend inschrijven  via de naar de verenigingen gestuurde inschrijfformulieren. Atleten die algemeen lid zijn kunnen zich direct via het inschrijfformulier op de website  inschrijven.

De inschrijfformulieren dienen per e-mail verstuurd te worden naar  voorzitter van KSV Spartacus,Henk Keizer. Het e-mailadres is:  hc [dot] keizer [at] quicknet [dot] nl De inschrijving sluit op 04 april 2015 om 24.00 uur. Inschrijvingen die na deze datum binnen komen zullen niet in behandeling worden genomen.

Elke atleet dient het formulier ‘Verklaring kostenverdeling dopinggerelateerde overtredingen’ in te vullen en ondertekend mee te sturen met het inschrijfformulier. Atleten die dit formulier niet meesturen worden uitgesloten van deelname.  

Deelnemers dienen in bezit te zijn van de Nederlandse Nationaliteit. Bij de weging dient de nationaliteit te worden aangetoond door het tonen van een geldig Nederlands paspoort of identiteitskaart.

Aanvang wedstrijd :  11.00 uur
Weging :  9.00 uur tot 10.30 uur

Mochten er  veranderingen in de aanvangtijden komen zal ik u hier tijdig van op de hoogte brengen.

Het inschrijfgeld bedraagt € 15,- en dient uiterlijk op 04-april 2015 te zijn bijgeschreven op rekeningnummer NL31  INGB 0007 3652 54  t.n.v. Krachsportvereniging Spartacus o.v.v. naam en gewichtklasse.

Scheidsrechterscursus

Scheidsrechters cursus sectie powerlifting KNKF.

Geachte leden het is de bedoeling dat er begin april 2015. Bij voldoende animo een scheidsrechters cursus van start gaat. De cursus is voor een groot gedeelte zelf studie, wel is het de bedoeling om bij aanvang van de cursus een clinic te organiseren waar vragen gesteld kunnen worden.

Verder zal de cursus afgesloten worden met een:
Theorie  examen en een praktijk examen.
Leden van de sectie powerlifting die zich voor de cursus op willen geven kunnen dit doen voor 1 maart 2015 bij Pardeep Kailey

Enumeration of the year 2014 & new PB bench press in final training 2014 :-)

What can I say of the year 2014. In sports it didn’t bring what I hoped & planned. It started with my leg injure on 14th February http://youtu.be/clkQ0_1T10M Ok I compete with 25kg squat at the Nationals and after that I wasn’t  able to lift at the Arnolds in Ohio.  Therefore I decided to compete at the Dutch Bench Press Nationals http://youtu.be/mql4qScDXrQ

At that stage I was focused to compete at the Europeans Masters and to get there it was important that my leg recovered. The first test for my leg was the Powerlifting Nationals Masters http://youtu.be/pMf_LWqnDh0 this went ok. This gave my confidence to compete at the Europeans Masters. At the Europeans Masters I made a step forward in my strength. Ok it isn’t on the level I wanted to be (the goals were 325kg-220kg-280kg in January before I injured my leg) http://youtu.be/r05HESzX-so

With result I lifted on the Europeans Masters my goal for the World Masters were 800kg total. The training went great for the Worlds Masters. I did make a step forward in all exercises compare the European Masters. Impression of my final trainings Worlds Masters http://youtu.be/qN9oU8aXWHs& http://youtu.be/CyYSxNhnFhw. 3 days before the Worlds Masters fate hit me. I became ill, had to take antibiotics. I felt really bad. Travel to the Worlds was more sleeping in car than something else. I stay most of my time in my hotel. On Friday I felt better and coached my friend KK on his meet http://youtu.be/Sz7FSRH6Vwc With the possibilities of my health I lifted the Worlds. Lifter a little less weight as on the Europeans http://youtu.be/kR3KfpH5QEI This means for me personally that I know I would have lifted more weights if I didn’t become ill. What do you have with “what if”? Nothing…

Because I want to train my RAW strength, building up my confidence with RAW squats, I made a program for the RAW nationals. At the first stage I wasn’t planning to compete and train all the way towards the RAW nationals with Peter Bongers. At the end I decided to compete and I want to squat 220kg RAW, so I know my leg is ok now. I finished with 225kg squats http://youtu.be/_Tp9YNJ706w

Today I finished my RAW bench training with a new PB of 152,5kg followed with 5x3 135kg. Will this be an omen that I will break the 220kg barrier finally in 2015!

Ok, this year was hard and I hope this will be a base to achieve better weight next year. My first goal is to break the 800kg total barrier again, so I will be able to make the step to 825kg total and even more.

First squats & RAM bench press in 2015

Ok, still problems with my knee & calve muscle and enough will to squat. So again half squats today. Made sets with 200kg (5x3) and this is very good for me at the moment. Will I end this year with 3x250kg RAW ;-) After squats light bench press followed with RAM bench press, whick I finished with 2x180kg. Time to start the PK formula with my eating again and become functional again. Also I want to do some light work-outs in the weekend. It is time to get back on track and get in better shape again. First stop are the Nationals on 1st March. Nice to train with Pardeep and Sandra today!

Okay! 8 weeks to the Open Powerlifting Nationals..... what's is the plan?

On 1st March the Open Powerlifting Nationals will be held at SSS Alkmaar. This will be my 24th Open Nationals. The first was on 22th March 1992. I lifted as a junior and broke the Dutch junior record squats. With the squats I had the same problems I have at this moment. That is an coincedent :-) Therefore I squatted 1 attempt and that was the record of 270kg. I lifted in de -100kg class. I want to complete the cycle of 25th Open Nationals without missing a contest. I had good and bad nationals. Most of the time I juice the nationals as start-up for the Europeans. For this year I want to get back on track. After the Worlds Masters I had a lack of motivation and trained 3 times a week in a minimum of time. Now it is time to train like before. Even though I have a calve/knee problem, it time train within the possibilties and get my motivation (passion) back.Today I made the first step :-)

Traiining 2 Open Powerlifting Nationals recovery session...

My body felt sore from the first training, so time for some recovery work. Depth with the squats is going better :-) My calve/knee is feeling better. On Tuesday I had a nice physiotherapy session. Compare the last month training, I did trained now more, so my body gave some respond. Last night I become ill (some fever and sore throat). Important is to recover from and stay on track tomorrow :-)

A long time ago in the galaxy.....

Yes, a long time ago in the galaxy two young powerlifter went for a training on a Christmas day. Okay, one went for a training. The other who had the key of the gym, decided to open the gym for his friend and their trainer. The reason for his decision was that he wasn't feeling well (he had fever). He opened the Gym and take a chair to watch the training of his friend. The trainer came in and looked to the young powerlifter on the chair. He (didn't asked) but he said: Why are you not changed in your training clothes! The young powerlifter said: Because I'm feeling ill, I have some fever. The trainer said him the following thing: A training you missed and your competitor trained, you aren't able to catch up. So, get your training clothes and we will wait 5 minutes before we start. Like a dog with his tail between his legs he went home to get his training clothes. Within 5 minutes he went back. They started the training and his trainer adjust the program within the possibilities of the young powerlifter. The young powerlifter was at the end very glad he completed the training within his possibilities.. A few months later he broke the National junior record squat. The young powerlifter became older and older, like his friend. Last week his friend confront his with that training. He asked: do you remember this? The old powerlifter said: yes, of course. That are a few lessons I don't forget from our trainer. He told: Now I have to do the same training now. The old powerlifter wish his luck and gave him thumbs up! Also the old powerlifter meet a few years ago an Elephant. You know it is hard to get the trust from an Elephant. After a time the Elephant gave the old powerlifter here trust. You know it is very nice to have an Elephant as friend. You can share your emotions and it very easy to hug an Elephant. There is only one problem with an Elephant and that same problem I have with the man in the mirror. The Elephant don't forget anything!

 

Now you are wondering: what have that to do with you & me? Of course nothing. I find it very nice to share an old story I have heard. This week I started my training for the Open Powerlifting Nationals. The first two training went well. After the second training I become ill. Today training 3 was listed on the program and I'm still ill. And what do you think? It is passion, dedication, obsession, madness or something else to do a training within my possibilities?

I did the warming-up cycles.
Squats 2x8 20kg 8x70kg 5x110kg 3x150 (half suit/sleeves) 3x180kg (half suit/sleeves/belt) 3x205kg (not recorded) 3x225kg 3x240 (full suit/sleeves/belt)
Because I don't had my normal tension and I still have to deal with my knee/calve injure, I made half squats and used sleeves instead of wraps.

Normally I will do sumo deadlifts on Friday and I decided to do it tomorrow. So I can feel what the reaction will be on my knee/calve and feel if I will feeling better.

Yesterday I trained within my possibilities, because my illness. Today I feel that my fever is gone :-) Only I have still some difficulties with breathing, coughing and my airway is feeling sore. Nevertheless I stopped my training yesterday after my bench press, so I have sumo deadlifts left. Today I did some sumo deadlifts within the possibilitess again. It were my first sumo deadlifts after IPF Worlds Powerlifting Masters (27-9-2014). Although my technic wasn't 100%, I'm very pleased how it went. I used the sleeves to protect my knee/calve. I used my old and loose centurion suit (the same I used yesterday), only I worn it reserverd.

Sumo deadlift 3x110kg, 3x150kg, 3x180kg, 3x205kg and 3x225kg.

Okay I didn't complete the sets and weights I have planned to do and I was able to do all exercises. This means my body is recovery of the fever (finally). Still some cold and coughing. Most important the fever is gone. Hope to do the complete program (sets and weights) on Wednesday, so I can make a step forward on Friday :-)

Today I did the same program as last week on Wednesday. At this stage I feel my body isn't recovered of the fever yet. Still coughing and problems with my breathing during the training. My condition is less and compare to Monday I complete the program also in sets and weights. Again is step forward. My goal for Friday is the complete my program in the sets and the weights ain't important. So all lift are in the program for Friday :-)
